Ultra Mobile PC のデモ・ビデオ公開
米CNETより「Ultra Mobile PC」のビデオ映像が公開されている。
指先でのジェスチャーのデモが楽しい。
画面に「Ｖ」と書いてビデオクリップの一覧を表示し、指先でピックアップすれば即ビデオが再生される。また「ｈ」と書けばホームポジション・メニューに戻る、といった感じだ。
Intel はプロセッサとチップセットなどのプラットフォームを提供するが、その提供先のメーカーは明らかにされていない。
広報部によると「海外のメーカーが3月中には発表するだろう」とのこと。ただし、日本メーカーについては「答えられない」としている。
Intelは「Ultra Mobile PC」を「ノートPCと携帯電話の中間のセグメント」と位置付けており、今までこのセグメントに存在していた「MobilePC / PalmTop / PDA」などの中途半端な位置付けのデバイスを一掃して、一気にノートPC寄りにシフトさせるつもりのようだ。
本当に、そんなポテンシャルを持っているのかどうか。9日に公開されるオリガミ・プロジェクトの Week3 が楽しみになってきた。
