PBJのUltra Mobile PC、「SmartCaddie」が、４月に日本市場に登場。
CPUには1GHzの超低電圧版C7-Mが搭載されており、Touch Pack付きの Windows XP Tablet PC Edition 2005がプレインストールされている。
本体の左右にはUSBポートが1つずつ。右側面には電源ボタンとボリュームボタンを備え、ヘッドフォン端子も用意されている。
表示ではズーム機能が用意されており 800×600、1024×600ドットの表示をエミュレーション可能だという。ちょっと見てみたいですね。
価格は４月の製品発表会で告知されます。以下、報道関係者向けのニュースリリースより。
「本を読む感覚で手に取ることが出来る。」「立ったままでも使いたい。」「小さくても機能はしっかりとWindowsパソコンであってほしい。」といった多方面のニーズすべてに応えながら、女性が携帯していても違和感を覚えないようファッション性にも配慮、屋外でも室内でも手軽に持ち運べ、インターネットの閲覧や動画チャット（インターネット回線を使い文字、動画、音声で行うコミュニケーション）など、今やポピュラーとなりつつあるデジタルライフをもっと自由なスタイルで、より多くの人に楽しんでもらいたいという基本発想で開発した商品です。

なんとなく、工場で使ってるタイプのマシンの延長に雰囲気が……(^^; あと、保険屋のおばちゃんが持つなら。
スタイリッシュには足りないなあというのが自分の感じです。
どうしてもボタンの多いメカメカしさと、ディスプレイと筐体のバランスがそう感じさせるんでしょう。
