Einstein getting Bigger !
衝撃的な映像です。
NewtonをMacOS-X上で動かすアインシュタイン・プロジェクトがDP3を発表し、なんとXGAで動いているNewtonの画面を公開しました。
このDP3では先日のDP2から動作速度が30%アップ。数点のバグを改善した他、ROMダンプするためのTCP/IPユーティリティを用意しています。稲波さんもコメントしていますが、次期OS-X「Tiger」のDashBoardを連想させるように画面狭しとNewtonアプレットの数々。ワクワクしますね。
さて、ここまでくると「カラー化はどうなるんだろう？」という前向きな疑問が湧いてきますね。
Paulによると「NewtonOSは低いレイヤーでカラーのサポートが成されていないために、それより上位レイヤーではカラーを利用することができず、カラーを実装するにはNewtonOSを変えるしかない」とのことですが、以前PowerPointのプレゼンデータをNewtonに読込み、CRTモニターに色付きで出力するEz2TVというPCカード形式のアダプタがありましたよね。
アインシュタイン・プロジェクトでPCMCIAが実装された段階でEz2TVを使えばNewtonエミュレータの標準出力（X11）とは別系でカラー表現が可能になるのではないかと期待しています。
いずれにせよ、VGA以上のタッチパッド付きPCでペンを握って実際の感触を体験してみたいものですね。
