Google Dashboard
まだ製品化は未定ながら、CESでのGoogleの基調講演でプロトタイプとして紹介されていた "Google Dashboard" は期待できる。
Google Earthがベースになっているのは「衛星写真+ポリゴン地図」というマップ表示を見れば一目瞭然だけど、大きな違いはユーザーが移動していくということ。ロケーションベースな情報をプッシュ型で提供するためのネットワーク実験プラットフォームと見れば非常に面白い。
周辺探索などGISとの連携は当たり前として、たとえば天候の情報などをマップ上に映像として再現するというのもいいだろう。今から向かう先が雨降りや雪なら空が暗くなっているとか、ハリケーンの動きが俯瞰できるとかね。あらゆる情報を感覚的に「見える化」していく。
一方でクルマ自体の管理も車内ネットワークで実現されてきているから、両者を連携させるようなプロトコルがあれば、クルマライフを見越したサービスを提供するような新しいマーケットも創造できそう。
ガソリンが減ってきたら近場にある料金の安いガソリンスタンドを提案してくるとか、空車のあるパーキングの広告が表示されるとか、お昼近くになったら周辺のレストランの混み具合が一覧できるとか、チャンス・ロスを埋めたい業種にとってはとても魅力的な広告媒体になるよね（映画マイノリティ・レポートに出てくる広告みたいにウザイのも嫌だけど）。
車検が近付いたらインパネに見積りが表示されるとかいうのも良いね（笑）
